- First, to Akili Producers (the rural folk all around Kenya) who have previously labored whole days only to enrich the brokers and buyers while often operating at a loss themselves.
- Second, to Akili Investors, who risk their hard-earned capital to fund the Akili idea and make it a reality.
- Third, to Akili Consumers – who should buy Akili products (Yogi, ema, Tasty, Hawa, Uki (watch this space) primarily because they are of exceptional quality, and because by buying the product the producers are getting a fair value for their labour.
Stanley Njage shares his story...
“I started growing French beans awhile ago. I didn’t have much experience and when I started to sell, the price in the market was extremely low. I wouldn’t have minded giving the entire crop to the animals; it was very low indeed. Then, there came a time when I started growing for another company and the crop became so good! I think I had 25 crates, but the harvesters were not very careful. So, we sold all of them, went to Nairobi to deliver everything but the whole crop came back on the grounds that it was not very clean.
